Picnic by the Planes - An unmissable annual event!

Aerobility's annual Picnic by the Planes event returned to Blackbushe Airport on a beautiful sunny evening, bringing together supporters, pilots, beneficiaries, volunteers, and visitors from across the local area and beyond for a memorable celebration of aviation and community.

Held free of charge at Aerobility HQ, the event welcomed guests to enjoy their picnics as the sun slowly set over a interesting line-up of aircraft that had flown in to support the occasion. Throughout the evening, visitors had the unique opportunity to get up close to a variety of general aviation aircraft, guided by knowledgeable volunteers and pilots who generously shared their passion for flying and explained what these remarkable aeroplanes are like to fly.

There was plenty to keep aviation enthusiasts of all ages entertained. Visitors enjoyed trying out a selection of flight simulators, while younger guests were drawn to Aerobility's popular STEM learning tool, the Groblin. Designed to inspire curiosity and learning, the interactive simulator allows children to safely explore aircraft controls, press buttons, and experience the fundamentals of flight in a fun and engaging environment.

Adding to the atmosphere was the incredibly talented Dawn Spink, an avid Aerobility supporter and country singer. Providing the perfect soundtrack to the event, Dawn treated attendees to a selection of well-loved songs performed live, creating a wonderful backdrop as guests relaxed with their picnics and the sun began to set over the airfield.

Another of the evening's highlights was the auction, where one fortunate bidder secured an unforgettable flight in the rare Velis Electro, which later took to the skies so the flyer could enjoy the event from above.

The excitement continued with a hugely popular raffle featuring an array of fantastic one-of-a-kind prizes, creating plenty of anticipation and delight among attendees.

The event proved to be a roaring success, made possible by the dedication and hard work of Aerobility's incredible staff and volunteers. Their efforts helped create a welcoming atmosphere that showcased the charity's mission while bringing people together through a shared love of aviation.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended and supported the event, Aerobility raised more than £1,200 during the evening. These funds will directly support the life-changing work the charity continues to provide, helping people with disabilities experience the freedom, challenge, and joy of flight.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, volunteered, donated, flew in, and helped make Picnic by the Planes another outstanding success. We look forward to planning next year’s event already.
