Volunteer Expectations

A shared and clear understanding of roles and responsibilities by both Aerobility and our volunteers is key, if we are to provide our services in the manner for which Aerobility has developed a reputation; namely, delivering in a consistently, ethical, reliable and superior way. This document sets out our expectations. It is not a contract and does not mean that you are a ‘worker’ or in employment in any sense for Aerobility. The expectations set out below are the arrangements between Aerobility and Aerobility volunteers. Failure of the volunteer to abide by these conditions could result in the volunteer’s services being terminated.

All Aerobility volunteers are expected to:

  • Accept the responsibilities, limits and agreed guidelines set out in your volunteer role description and follow the supervision and direction of any Aerobility personnel (employee or volunteer) to whom you have been assigned to perform services.

  • Disclose any cautions, convictions or care proceedings in the past, present or while active as an Aerobility volunteer, and agree to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, if required to do so.

  • Meet all agreed time commitments or provide reasonable notice where unforeseen circumstances prevent you from doing so, so that alternative arrangements can be made.

  • Respect the people and work of Aerobility and not bring the Charity into disrepute.

  • Carry out tasks in ways that reflect the aims, values and missions of the Charity.

  • Always comply and adhere with Aerobility policies, procedures and standards applicable to volunteers.

  • Make the most of training and support opportunities, and participate in any training considered necessary by Aerobility to perform our services.

  • Be reliable and honest.

  • Give as much notice as possible of any intention to cease volunteering.

  • Claim expenses and return relevant paperwork in a timely fashion and in line with our procedures.

  • Agree that your services shall be donated with no entitlement or expectation of any present or future salary, wages, or other benefits for these voluntary services.

  • Respect and maintain, for the duration of this Agreement and thereafter, the confidentiality of information gained whilst volunteering with Aerobility particularly that relating to staff and service users, and not to disclose any confidential or sensitive information to any unauthorised person.

Aerobility is expected to:

  • Provide you with a role description, setting out your tasks (objectives), responsibilities and any parameters within which they must be exercised.

  • Provide and apply our policies as appropriate to all volunteers. Details of which policies apply to volunteers are set out in our Volunteer policy.

  • Provide any initial and ongoing training (including induction training) and development necessary for you to undertake your role.

  • Provide you with supervision and support whilst volunteering with Aerobility.

  • Reimburse all reasonable travel and out of pocket expenses in line with our Volunteer expenses policy and procedure.

  • Keep you informed of any changes or emerging issues that may impact on your role.

  • Address any complaints in accordance with the procedures set out in our Volunteer Policy.

  • Provide Public Liability Insurance to cover the delivery of our volunteering services.
