Aerobility is a leading disability charity, based at Blackbushe Airport near Camberley on the Hampshire Surrey border. Aerobility Demonstrates that the challenges of flight and exposure to aviation acts as a tool for improving the lives of those with a disability. Whatever the age or whatever the disability, be it physical, learning or mental, or an injury acquired in conflict – Aerobility gives everyone the chance to fly and participate in aviation orientated activities. Aerobility operates adapted aircraft, supporting equipment and specialist instruction to ensure access for all. The charity also acts as a representative body for disabled aviators working with regulators and the aerospace industry to promote access and awareness.
Aerobility believes that everyone should have the right and opportunity to participate in aviation and work hard to remove the barriers that make aviation physically and financially inaccessible for people with disabilities. With a diverse range of services, including flight training and ground-based education programmes, the organisation works with over 600 people with disabilities every year.
The organisation has a small staff team operating from the main headquarters at Blackbushe and relies on input from volunteers to deliver services and achieve its charitable objective. With operations from a number of other airfields across the UK , Aerobility is currently developing its national coverage and presence.

Role overview
Aerobility believes that flying should be accessible to everyone, regardless of physical or cognitive challenges. Through our innovative programs and adapted aircraft, we empower individuals with disabilities to experience the freedom and joy of flight. Our volunteers play a crucial role in making these experiences possible, supporting our mission to create a more inclusive aviation community. This exciting volunteering opportunity combines general volunteering duties and full-service support for simulator instruction on both the fixed simulators at Blackbushe and the mobile simulator. You don't have to be a certified flight instructor but some degree of IT knowledge and having held a Private Pilot License (PPL) is preferable. This role also involves occasional travel to partner sites, conveniently located within commuting distance from Blackbushe Airport. (Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses and mileage are available, as required.)
What you will be expected to do?
Provide simulator instruction sessions to individuals with disabilities, focusing on basic flight principles, navigation, and aircraft control.
Tailor instruction sessions to meet the needs and abilities of each participant, ensuring a safe and enjoyable learning experience.
Utilise Aerobility's simulator equipment to conduct sessions at Blackbushe, partner sites and community events.
Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all participants and volunteers, promoting a sense of belonging and community spirit within the organisation.
Occasionally travel to partner sites located within a reasonable commuting distance from Blackbushe Airport to deliver simulator instruction sessions.
Coordinate travel arrangements and ensure timely arrival and setup of simulator equipment at each location.
Communicate effectively with team members to address any issues or challenges that may arise during simulator operations.
Support the wider operations of Aerobility by assisting with various tasks and activities as needed.
Participate in volunteer meetings, training sessions, and events organized by Aerobility to enhance community engagement and teamwork.
What will you need to be successful in this role?
Ideally hold or have previously held a valid Private Pilot License (PPL). A Flight instructor certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
A Passion for aviation and a desire to share the joy of flight with others.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Flexibility and adaptability to travel to partner sites as required.

Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards individuals with disabilities.
