Aerobility Raises a Record-breaking £130,000 at Aviators Ball 2023

A record-breaking £130,000 was raised by Aerobility at its annual Aviators Ball, with all funds going towards helping disabled people to experience flight.

Ranging from a D-Day flight in a Douglas C47 to a signed RAF Red Arrows flying suit, more than 95 unique aviation-themed items were up for grabs in Aerobility’s auctions which ran throughout the night. The grand total of £130,000 raised through bids and donations soars above any total raised in previous years.

The Aviators Ball is Aerobility’s largest fundraising event of the year with more than 450 guests from across the aviation industry in attendance and support from organisations including Bristow Group, 2Excel, London Biggin Hill Airport, NATS, Nicholson McLaren Aviation, Aerobytes, Gallagher and Breitling.

This year, the RAF Red Arrows presented awards on the night, including the Pooleys Aviator Sword to Aerobility’s Aviator of the Year Mike McClelland.

Aerobility CEO Mike Miller-Smith said: “Everyone at Aerobility has been blown away by the support we have received at the ball this year. We had a fantastic night, and all funds raised will go directly into helping people with disabilities to take the skies and live their dreams. We are extremely grateful.”

The Aviators Ball celebrated 30 years of operations for Aerobility. Since 1993, the charity has introduced more than 10,000 people to the magic and wonder of flight, forever transforming their perspective on the world and their personal capabilities.
