Aerobility were delighted to visit residents at Cuffley Manor care home recently, bringing the experience of flight directly to them through our accessible flight simulator.
The session gave residents the opportunity to “fly” an aircraft in a safe, supportive, and fully inclusive environment, creating moments of joy, confidence, and connection throughout the day. It was wonderful to see residents, care teams, and the wider community come together to share such a unique experience.
Our volunteers were especially proud to support residents as they explored the simulator, many trying something completely new for the very first time. The activity sparked conversations about travel, aviation, and personal memories, while also encouraging social interaction and shared enjoyment.
One resident shared “At first, I was a little unsure, as it was something completely new to me, but the support and encouragement from the team made all the difference. Very quickly, I felt relaxed, confident, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.” – CR, Resident from Clover
Another resident said “I didn’t expect it to feel so real. Once I got started, I actually felt like I was flying a proper plane. It was brilliant.” – RH, Resident from Lavender
And for one resident, the experience provided a real boost in confidence “I felt quite proud of myself doing it. It gave me a bit of a boost, to be honest.” – RW, Resident from Lavender
One of our volunteers reflected “It was incredibly rewarding to see the residents light up as they took control of the simulator. The conversations, laughter, and sense of achievement throughout the session reminded us why accessible aviation experiences are so important.”
We are proud to make aviation more accessible to everyone and to create opportunities that inspire confidence, curiosity, and connection at every age.
