Remembering Jill Burry

Jill has been an invaluable supporter of Aerobility since 2011.

Since then, she has been a great friend of the organisation, helping with events, an avid bidder in the Annual Fundraising Auction at the Aviators Ball, and instrumental in helping the charity successfully secure significant funding from the Burry Charitable Trust to purchase an additional disability adapted aircraft. This aircraft has flown nearly 1000 disabled people, some of whom have gone on to qualify as pilots in the aircraft.

She also funded a number of scholarships for young disabled people.  Jill was most proud of this, particularly when the parents of a teenager with autism wrote to her:

He was 15 when he was told he’d never be a pilot and to think of something more suitable and less challenging for his learning disability. Not once did we forget his dream and then we found Aerobility.  The flying, the aviation experience programme, friendship, encouragement and a place to belong.  Thank you.  You have made such a difference!”

Jill’s support of Aerobility, helping to give the magic of flight to all, has genuinely changed the lives of thousands of disabled people and she will always remain a part of Aerobility’s legacy.
