Facilities Volunteer

Role description

Reports to: Service Deliver Director and Chief Flying Instructor

Direct reports: Nil

Location: Blackbushe Airport (Camberley, Surrey, GU17 9LQ)

Commitment: Baseline of one day per week minimum

Role overview

The Facilities Volunteer plays a crucial role in assisting with the maintenance, upkeep and safety of Aerobility facilities and infrastructure, helping to ensure efficient operations and regulatory compliance.

Key tasks and responsibilities (include but not limited to):

· Assist with the maintenance, upkeep, cleanliness, and safety of Aerobility's facilities, including offices, hangars, meeting, and training areas.

· Coordinate repairs, renovations, and upgrades as needed, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations.

· Develop relationships with facilities-related vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure quality and cost-effective services.

· Review facility policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations and compliance with regulatory standards.

· Ensure maintenance contracts are renewed in a timely fashion.

· Conduct regular assessments of facility conditions and identify areas for improvement or optimization.

· Co-ordinate general storage facilities at Aerobility’s Blackbushe premises by ensuring that equipment and materials are properly documented, stored safely, and efficiently.

· Collaborate with other departments to support facility-related needs and projects, such as office relocations, space planning, and renovation projects.

· Maintain accurate records and documentation related to facility operations, maintenance activities, and regulatory compliance. Ensure they are available, stored, and archived in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Desirable knowledge and skills requirements:

· Experience in facilities oversight.

· Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to facilities.

· Familiarity with procurement processes, contract negotiation, and vendor relations.

· Have an understanding of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems, ensuring each system has documentation and operating instructions.

· Familiarity with health and safety regulations and practices in a workplace environment.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.

· Problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze situations, identify issues, and implement effective solutions.

· Attention to detail, with a focus on maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency.

· Adaptability and flexibility to respond to changing priorities, unexpected challenges and new responsilbilities as directed by the Senior Leadership Team.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

· Knowledge of sustainable and energy efficiency initiatives in facility management is desirable.
