My name is Stuart and I'm 33 and a wheelchair user.
I first came to Aerobility for a trial flight and instantly got the aviation bug and wanted to work towards my PPL.
The staff made it more than just learning to fly. Everyone was welcoming, helpful and just made it a great day every time I came for a lesson. I asked about volunteering because I wanted to give something back after Aerobility gave me a scholarship to help me fund my flight training, and it's been an amazing journey.
I have been volunteering now for around 7 months, I started by covering some shifts on the reception desk. I have never been very good with spelling and grammar as you could probably tell by reading this, so it was a bit of a challenge. The staff again went above and beyond and gave me so much support. Because of this support I decided to go back to college and study bookkeeping level 2. Again, the support and encouragement was overwhelming and I can't thank the staff enough.
I then slowly started taking on more finance responsibilities as I progressed through my college course and have now been offered a part time post with the charity.
I honestly can't thank Aerobility enough.
