Frank Hardiman

Frank retired as CEO of Laurel Mental Health Services in March 2008 to pursue his interest in flying. Frank trained as a general and psychiatric nurse and held senior management and nursing posts at The Maudsley Hospital London, spanning an NHS career of more than 20 years, gaining various qualifications including an MSc and PhD.

A member of the Aerobility executive committee since 2008, Frank is also an active Rotarian and former President of the Rotary Club of Purley, which raised funds to purchase our robotic hoist.

A regular speaker at national and international conferences, Frank also served for a number of years on the National Executive of the Psychiatric Nurses Association and also contributed as a part-time editor of Mental Health Nursing Journal. Shortly before his retirement in 2008 Frank renewed his PPL which had lapsed 30 years previously, and completed an IMC, twin, night and CRI rating. Frank is an experienced tailwheel pilot and flies his own Vans RV4 from Laddingford in Kent.
